You matter, no matter what’s going on in your life or how you may be feeling. You Matter!
I know many of you have neglected your own health, happiness and wellbeing for years and are feeling lost and broken down by the daily grind of life.
I know many of you have forgotten how to look after yourself and nurture yourself while still fighting for relevance and success in your career and family life.
Today, I want you to take a moment to remember that you matter. That your happiness, your dreams and your wellbeing are important to your overall health and performance.
Self care and self love, are not a luxury you get to indulge in once in a while. But rather a way of life and very much a part of the performance equation I share with you every day.
Most of you have neglected to love yourself, to heal yourself and give yourself time to take care of your body, mind and soul. You’ve made everyone and everything else a priority in your life.
You’ve let the external world rule the internal world and because of that imbalance everything else in your life is in conflict and out of balance.
It’s time to make a shift in how you view yourself and your life. It’s time to love yourself and nurture yourself every day, so you can perform and function at a level that makes you feel alive, in control and energised.
You matter and if I was sitting next you right now, I’d be looking into your eyes and telling you just how beautiful, special and powerful you are and that you can unlock your potential by loving yourself and making your own wellbeing a priority.
You’ve seen what happens when you neglect your own wellbeing and I don’t want you to keep going down that road. I’m sure that you’re tired of feeling burnt out, frustrated and unfulfilled.
So let’s start learning to love ourselves a little more and make our own health & wellbeing a priority in our lives.
Self love and care is an every day project and it’s time to make that commitment to the one thing that allows you to feel alive and perform at a level that simply takes your breath away.

Decided to up my oatmeal game and add some delish stewed the MONTAGUE tree plums from @montagueofficial to my usual oats! ✨ Recipe: 6 the MONTAGUE tree plums, 1 tbsp raw cane sugar, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract mixed together in a saucepan, brought to a boil and then simmered for 10 minutes. HelLO fellow humans.
I'm Jazmin, in case you didn't know or forgot. And I've had something weighing on me for a moment.
I, like many, am finding my place in this world. That means I'm finding my place in this couch, this social media platform, this yoga community, this life.
I heavily identify as Latina and wouldn't trade my culture for anything. That's a big reason as to why I teach yoga in Spanish. I want my Latino community to have yoga accessible to them as a tool for wellness and self love.
Sometimes I can express myself better in English, though, and that makes me feel a little self conscious. Because of the vision I have to offer yoga in Spanish, I feel some self pressure to translate every single thing I post on here because if not I'd be kind of a hypocrite (at least that's what the critical side of me says to myself). But truthfully, I then don't end up sharing as much as I'd like to because I can't find the right words or right translations for Spanish. And that's just a product of me living in the states longer than I lived in my home country - I can speak Spanish but when it comes to deeper communication, it takes me longer to express it all. Genuine human connection is SO IMPORTANT, though, and I know I'm not the only Latinx who has this language struggle even while identifying as Latino/a. So I'm going to try to be less harsh on myself and remember I'm not a fraud to my community if I'm not translating everything I post. Because I'm just me and I'm just being real.

Having suffered with mental health for years, I never thought I’d be able to live independently, work, basically have a life. I was surviving for years rather than living. Now, with the right tablets and a bit of faith, the black dog has gone. And I’m able to live. And it’s really exciting, when I was diagnosed I was still more or less a child. Now I’m a man, and I can go experience what life has to offer me, without the spectre of mental health looming over me! And I get to leave this feckin desolate village I live in for good 😂 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you’re reading this and have just started your journey with a mental health condition, or you’re still struggling, then please be open to your psychiatrist if the meds aren’t working. There are so many different combos to try, and the chances of them immediately finding the right one aren’t that high, they might need tinkering a bit. For those of you who may not know:
When you weigh heavier (higher body fat percentage) you’re technically much stronger compared to yourself at a lower body fat.
So this was a huge win for me!

Never in history has someone been able to immediately relax after being told to “relax.”
Personally, I find it makes me angry and then I become more unsettled.
Some productive and gentle things we can say when we want to help others, especially children, calm down include:
1. Let’s take deep breaths together - take a deep breath and count to 10
2. Ask if there’s anything you can do to help and respect if they simply ask to be left alone.
3. Help the person go on a mental vacation - especially good for children (more on this in an earlier post).
4. Provide paper and crayons/colored pencils to allow the child to draw a picture of how they are feeling - scribbling on the paper and pressing really hard may help to exert some energy they have built up inside them.
5. Give your child a tight squeeze (deep touch pressure) - it lowers activity in the sympathetic nervous system allowing for an increase in the parasympathetic nervous system. This also allows for a decrease in heart rate and blood pressure (physical signs of stress and anxiety) and an increase in serotonin and dopamine (neurotransmitters that help induce a feeling of calm). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
6. Make sure to normalize their feelings and allow them to get it out whichever way makes them comfortable (as long as nobody is in harms way).
7. Talk about something they love that they might be looking forward to. Ask a lot of questions and engage the child in conversation about it. Getting them to think and process a response helps to calm their bodies.
