“My son Glenn and I have always had a good relationship, but when he was struggling with addiction, there were some very frustrating times... they sometimes act like they're monsters even though they are a good person. But I never gave up on Glenn! People would tell me, ‘Leave him alone, you’re doing too much to try to help.’ But if you have a loved one struggling too, don’t listen to that! You’ve got to hang in there. Maybe it won’t do any good, but maybe it will! It did for Glenn! He’s a changed person now. Glenn is very thoughtful, very caring. I am so proud of him.” — Love, Your Neighbour Ruby⠀
Ruby knows first-hand how quickly addiction unravels the cords of family. Her sons grew up doing everything together—including partying, drinking, and experimenting with drugs when they became teens. Glenn’s addiction went downhill when his brother died of an overdose at 25, leaving Ruby heartbroken… Despite the pain, Ruby never lost hope for Glenn. Because of Ruby’s unconditional love, Glenn is now celebrating 10 years of sobriety and a relationship with his mom that has never been stronger.⠀
In celebration of Family Day, we’re honouring YOU. Every day, the painful effects of poverty, homelessness, and addiction extend to a struggling person’s loved ones—but too often, the conversation doesn’t. It’s time we change that.⠀
Love, Your Neighbour 💌 is a space for you to share your story. With your voice, we can destigmatize the conversation, and learn to love our neighbours with the kind of compassion that changes lives. If poverty, homelessness, or addiction has personally touched your life, join the conversation by leaving an encouraging comment below, or sharing your experience by tagging #LoveYourNeighbour.⠀
Reposted from @vokra - Har Gow, along with his sister Siu Mai, are two friendly and adorable cats looking for someone to love and pamper them. They're inseparable and as loving with people as they are with each other. They like cuddling, being brushed and the company of adults. Someone who spends a fair bit of time at home is ideally suited to these two loving and curious cats. As well, their perfect home would be free of other animals and children. If you're interested in adopting Har Gow and Siu Mai click the link in our bio to visit our website and learn more about adopting through us. #cats#fostercats#catrescue#vancouver#adopt#adoptdontshop#rescue#vokra 📷: Lisa Brideau - #regrann
#familyday Thought today would be the perfect time to share the custom art I ordered from @minted , this was the special project I was working on for Valentine’s Day. My family absolutely loved seeing 10 years of memories all brought together on what is now my favorite piece of art!
I’m not sure why I liked this scene so much but the intent of this photo was that I wanted to capture the colours of the slide and the turtle which seemed juxtaposed on the drab winter colours of the foliage and concrete around the iced over pool. I had to take the lens off my camera and pass it through the fence surrounding the pool to get a shot without the bars obstructing the view.
This photo is part of my excursion photo journal project on my website invisional.ca
Anatomy trains by Tom Myers is a must for any clinician and therapist. One of my favourite takeaways from this weekends workshop is treating humans not muscles, and discarding the unit by unit way of looking at the body. The same philosophy is applied when taping, we are taping movements and patterns not muscles. This is a key difference between tape from different therapists, ultimately it’s up to the therapist to understand what movements are compromised and how to establish a better sensory feedback with tape for the individual.
For this client we taped their foot arches (not seen) to create the feeling of higher arches. We used a tab technique which is really cool, and then followed up the foot with the helical line. This creates a feeling which makes the individual want to externally rotate their legs and hips and open from that closed position. The same goes with the upper limb, to promote more of an external rotated arm and prevent the arm and shoulder from rotating in and creating knuckles facing forward, slouched over look.

1 week into Penn State’s Biomechanics of Golf online course. Some pretty cool info thus far. I’ve learned I’d like to have an extra $60k to buy a GEARS optical motion tracking system and a 3D Force Plate 😂
