When I first started working out, it was because I wanted abs. I thought they defined a healthy body. 🙄 I started an exercise program but was eating the same unhealthy crap and living the same overall lifestyle. Processed food 🍟 & drinking🍺🥃 too much on weekends were my jam. The only difference was a few hours of added workouts per week. I never got the abs that I wanted and felt like a loser, especially when all these other girls would somehow get a six pack in 3 months!

Then I started learning about better nutrition. I started eating 🥬🍉🥑 fresh, unprocessed, wholesome foods, cut out junk food and excess sugar, stopped drinking, and started focusing on how my body FEELS. I magically stopped having digestive issues and had a lot more energy. I began macro counting and flexible dieting and learned more about how to fuel my body in a balanced, sustainable way. I redefined my definition of a healthy body, and it’s not abs. It’s a body that feels good and functions well.

What do they call it when you stumble upon something unexpectedly? Serendipity I believe. It’s interesting because when I look back at pics from then compared to now, I actually toned up a lot and my abs are more defined, even though I stopped looking for them a long time ago.

I’m telling you this story because health is not just about looking a certain way.   • A year ago we booked a beach vacation for July (2018) and the trip was one of a few factors that encouraged me to get my booty in shape. I didn’t want to feel completely uncomfortable in my swim suit on the beach. I wanted to let loose and enjoy myself and not be self conscious, sad, shy etc. .
It’s NOT easy to accomplish goals, hence the reason they are goals and not a bullet point on the “to-do” list, but I achieve that little goal. I felt like a million bucks on that beach and let me tell you, after years of self sabotage, excuses- legitimate and otherwise, it felt amazing to do this for myself. To set out and accomplish something I never thought I could, especially after having two babies. I’ve taken that little goal and somehow, it evolved into a lifestyle of its own. This journey has given me SO MUCH MORE than confidence in a bathing. Mental health, understanding and learning all about myself, above all else. I am continuing on this journey to self love and confidence and appreciate you all coming along for the ride. ❤️

On the left, is me in the summer back in Taiwan! I was going to the gym like 3 to 4 times a week, but then I didn't eat enough. I think it is when I lose most of my butt. I almost lose my butt first when I don't eat enough (not because I was on diet, I just did not have the appetite) and exercise a lot.😶
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the right, is me a week ago. I know there is not a massive different, only a tiny gain in my thighs and butt and also lose my tan I got from summer haha! But I am feeling much stronger now, do more different excerises and lift more! Also, most importantly, I feel happier when I go to gym now because my focus is different. My mindset is different. So, always remember mental health > how you look.😊 Have a great day everyone 😘

  • And this here ladies and gentlemen is why I need to wear wigs... This is like 1/16 of my makeup routine 😳 I looooove that 🤭 though 💁🏻‍♀️. It takes me a good chunk of time to get myself ready in the morning or for an event. I save myself any where from 20 minuets to an hour and a half by choosing to wear a wig over styling my regular hair or ADDING CLIP INS! Don’t get me wrong I keep up on my natural hair and love how long I’ve finally gotten it but as far a wow factor, saving time and endless hours of maintaining a style you really can’t beat a wig. Pluuuus it’s fun 😛 #detroit #transformation #transformationtuesday #wednesday #shesalwayslate #makeup #diva #style #detroit

From 396 lbs to 190lbs in less than a year and from a 70 inch waist to a 30. I'm sorry if this is a little TMI with the pictures. Hope it helps someone because this is hard for me to share. -

If you medically need the surgery it's worth the pain!  I had a lot of complications, but I would do it again in a heart beat. These days  the scar will be much smaller compared to mine. There have been huge advancements in the surgery now compared to when I had it done 10 years ago. My scar is big and ugly, but it adds character and I consider it a war wound/great conversation piece. -

If someone asks when they see it I'll tell them with a straight face " a great white shark tried to swallow me from the feet up  and clapped down on my waist. Then the shark spit me out because I tasted like shit" most people are like WTF 😳😳😳 (you should see their faces) then I say " I'm just busting your ovaries/balls" people literally believe me because my face is so serious. 😂😂😂😂😂 -

  • Here's a little #transformationtuesday ...on the left is after 41 days of living off the land in the jungle on @castawaysabc ..on the right is 6 months later racing the @Spartan Palmerton Super. I can not express how gnarly it was to literally starve for 41 days..all you can do is day dream about food..putting on shoes alone is such a chore because you have nothing in the tank..and at the same time you still have to go search for food. It's kinda like that feeling after you finish an ultra and can hardly move because your exhausted but worse because it's 41 days and no meal is guaranteed. If you'd like to see what we went through you can watch it now on Hulu! #castaways

  • This marks 4 years ago when my doctor gave me the green light to workout. 🤩One year prior to that, I was could only walk or do yoga while I healed a burnt out thyroid. This was extremely hard for me.  I had always tried to work out and push myself because I loved the rush of endorphins and the confidence I gained in my own skin from a good sweat sesh. .

After having children, running on empty too long, and fueling myself with too much coffee, sugar, and wine, I was a shell of an exhausted person.
.
.
So, when my doctor said YES, I was scared.  It'd been a year.  How do I get back on that horse? What if I get sick again?  There were SO many programs out there!  It was overwhelming, but I KNEW I needed to "move" every day.

.
I reached out to a Beachbody coach who was running PRIVATE Facebook challenge groups.  I knew NOTHING about these groups other than they would challenge me to show up every day, and I was nervous.  I knew NO ONE in the group.  What if they were all super-fit?  What if I couldn't relate or didn't "fit in?" What if I failed?  What if I quit yet again?  What if I bit off more than I could chew? .
.
Then after a deep breath, I asked myself, "Hey, what if I actually had FUN, started LOVING MY BODY for what it does for ME, and GOT RESULTS at the same time? What if I made new friends AND got some awesome support???"
