  • IMAGINE THIS!

It’s 50 years from now and you have passed on gently into the night and your grandkids or great-grandkids are looking for photos of the family to show to their kids and hang on the wall. And horror of horrors! They can’t find a single photo of you. Because, by then mobile phones and cameras would be obsolete and all the selfies and groupies you have been taking will all be gone. Poof! Vanished forever! I have a feeling it will sadden them greatly.

This is exactly how I have been feeling for years. I have spent so many summer vacations peering at the walls of uncles and aunts looking for my grandmother’s photo. And not found it. It still brings on a pang of sadness.

And so in the mad rush of life we put off so many things, not realising that death is always one step behind and can catch up any time. And it is kind of inevitable, no matter how fit we are.
I have heard so many stories myself and from fellow photographers about how grateful clients are that they got photos taken of Mum or Grandma or even teens and how precious those photos are, now that they have passed on.

To those who say, they can’t afford it, I say, you cannot afford not to. Because what if you find the money and the person is gone?

For those who say they don’t have the time, NOW is always the best time.

IF NOT NOW, THEN WHEN?

  • Going through and re-editing old photos. I’m sure most photographers can relate, but my editing techniques and style are constantly evolving so it’s fun to go through old photos and see what you do differently now.
