Hydnellum peckii, the "Bleeding Tooth Fungus".
"Although the fruit bodies of H. peckii have been described as resembling 'Danish pastry topped with strawberry jam', and Hydnellum species in general are not known to be poisonous, they are inedible due to their extremely bitter taste.
The fruit bodies typically have a funnel-shaped cap with a white edge, although the shape can be highly variable. Young, moist fruit bodies can 'bleed' bright red guttation droplets that contains a pigment known to have anticoagulant properties similar to heparin."
Now Discovering Lake Agnes in Alberta, Canada, with @walasavagephoto.
"Despite having visited Lake Louise many times, it was awhile before we decided to hike up to the Lake Agnes Tea House. Once you make it up there, you can enjoy some hot tea and snacks by the lake itself, or you can hike the relatively flat trail around it for an invirogratingly beautiful rest!" #thediscoverer#nowdiscovering
Snow snow snow! No school and no getting down the driveway today. Not even to pick up my printing. It felt like a Monday on steroids! I planned to do a follow Friday, but the day passed in trying to fix everything that went wrong, so I will resume after Stitches West. Is Mercury retrograde? Hitting the reset button right. Now. Tomorrow is another day! #snow#gettingbacktowork
