#TheGreaterFolk: Hi, I'm Richa Vashista, a Mental Health Professional and I was coloured with major work burn out last year.
#🌼 What was your lowest point and what was your positive takeaway from it?
For over 3 and half years, I fared exceptionally well at work. I guess that hit me the most. I couldn't fare the way I used to. My enthusiasm for my work from 100% dropped down to 5%. Most days, I wouldn't want to get out of my bed and didn't look forward to going to my workplace. 
It was a struggle for 6 months till I could finally speak to a senior about it. Every day in office was very difficult because I had so many deliverables and every small step felt very challenging.
The positive take away is that, in spite of all that has happened, all the people I have lost, I have also gained some important people. 
When you are at your lowest, you can gauge who the real people around you are and who’s going to stay no matter what :) I am here and I am doing much better today. I never thought I would reach here, talking about this a lot more openly, but I AM!
#🌼 Your go-to self-care activity?
Locked up in my room with my speakers with decently loud music on along with a pile of clothes. I frequently unfold and fold my clothes and tidily keep it back into my cupboard as that helps me unclutter my mind. It is a part of my routine and I try to do it once every 20 days!

  • It's so hard to love yourself first. We are givers by nature and at times it feels wrong to put our own needs first.

Remember that when we fail to pour into ourselves then we dont have anything to pour from.
.
If someone is telling you that you are being selfish, consider reevaluating the relationship...whether friend, partner, family member, etc...
.
Personally, I workout first thing in the morning on most days. Self-discipline is self-love.🖤
.
Tag 2 friends who remind you to love yourself first or who need to be reminded to love themselves first! .

  • Meet Robert 👋
Robert is one of our amazing counselors at Tully Hill. He became a counselor after realizing that helping others gave his life purpose. What better way to help others than in an area where he had a lifetime of experience; “a counselor is who I am and what I was meant to do,” Robert says. 
His favorite part of his job as a #counselor is running process groups, teaching #meditation group, and working one on one with those who are struggling.

As a full-time student at Oswego University, he doesn’t have a lot of spare time. But when he does have a moment to himself he likes to spend it outdoors being in nature.

When asked "what is one thing that you would like people to know about treatment at Tully Hill?" Robert said “Tully Hill is the best treatment facility I've seen, because we follow the #twelvesteps approach, which has proven to be successful, and we establish a strong sense of #community, not only with the patients, but with their #family and a connection to the #recovery community when a patient leaves treatment.” Thank you for your hard work and dedication to helping others Robert! It is a pleasure having you on our treatment team.

On the topic of stress, the stress from the daily grind can be overwhelming. It's important though to use comfort food in MODERATION and not over indulge...that is the tricky part.

One chip can turn into an entire bag or one 🍪 can turn into an entire batch 😤
.
Personally, I usually go for cookies or chick fila 😂🤔
.

I’ve created Sukoon in the hopes of not only building a positive community of like minded people, but also to introduce the traditional practice of yoga and mediation to help mental health battlers with their on going struggles. Every few weeks we will meet to go through a gentle nourishing yoga practice, calm our minds through a short meditation and spend some time getting to know each other. Sharing on how we’re doing and what we can do to support us and others like us around 😊 .
