#Bombay / #MumbaiCity from the sky. A city I both love and hate, love to hate it and hate to admit that my love for it. It's ugliness is also beautiful while there's also something ugly about it's beauty #itscomplicated .
As you can see, 60%of the the world's most unaffordable city for real estate lives in slums but they occupy only 9% of the #realestate . They are the low cost blood that runs the city's dream Machine.. our taxpaying watchmen, vendors, tailors, carpenters, electricians, labourers, even teachers, cops and white collar workers.. They sit on prime real estate that Maharashtra s political-builder nexus lusts after, which is why the new game in town involves 'slum rehabilitation', where a builder gets rewarded with free real estate everytime he takes over a #slum . Only, with corruption, this game can turn into a feast for the real estate guys and forcible demolition and horrible rehabilitation for the urban poor. And more buildings and cars per neighborhood. Not only are the slum areas, even the last forests of Mumbai's suburbs like #AareyForest and #SanjayGandhiNationalPark are about to be chopped and monetized.
The time we sat in traffic to go get visas, just to learn their system is not working, they don’t currently have our visas, and they have no idea when they will be ready or a way for us to verify when they are ready. #foreignlife#megacity#idontwanttogoback

View from Central, in Asia’s world city ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve lived in a few places in my life and although most have been mega cities, they have all been quite different from each other. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hong Kong definitely has the most interesting geography. 70% of the territory is forest and hills, so buildings mostly have to be built on a narrow strip of land along the coast (which keeps getting filled in to make more land!). Maybe that’s why we have such a density of skyscrapers and lights, making for the iconic view of endless lights along both coasts of Victoria Harbour, and the very pleasing Star Ferry ride between the two.
Have you ever been on the Star Ferry? @here.comes.adrian
