📍Tip: Check out our 🇱🇧 Lebanon 🎥 Stories to see our ride here from Beirut 🚐😆 Byblos, Jbeil in Arabic, is 40 mins. north of Beirut, has incredible ancient Roman ruins 🏛 and is one of the oldest cities in the world, dating back to 8,000 BC. It’s where writing 📝📜 and the Roman alphabet 🆎 was said to be invented 💫 To get here from Beirut, we took an Uber from our place in Hamra to the Cola bus station. From there, we caught a collective taxi bus 🚐 with about 12 locals from Beirut, for $1,500 Lebanese lira- $1 USD. To see our journey, check out our Lebanon 🎥 Stories. On the way back, we walked to the main highway 🛣 street in Byblos and waved down another taxi bus for the same price back to Beirut, and took a taxi 🚕 for $3 USD to Hamra. ⋆

For you to understand what I mean by warmth, here are some stories of people I met on street corners in Lebanon. Each one of them would come along with some coffee or Narguile, something warm.
.
As I was glancing at those markers of the past, Hamed steps in. For some minutes language barrier vanishes. We talk, explain, laugh. I was to find him on the pictures. A red-hair Lebanese: should have been easy. Not. Sepia hides the trait.
Already rolling with coffee since the early morning, I decline his invitation to drink it and he offers me a hot cinnamon drink instead with some broken biscuits inside. Strange but Lech la (*why not)! I take his portrait, print it and give it to him. Some other piece of history.
