Even pennies are shiny.
If you do not know your value, life is going to hurt. It’s going to hurt a whole awful lot. You are going to find yourself very misplaced, with nobody to hold on too. It’s a whole lot easier to be holding yourself up, than waiting for validation.
You are not contingent on those around you. Who you marry doesn’t matter. Who your friends are isn’t important. You are what ever you strive to be. The road is easier when surrounded by like minded people, but the destination is what matters. Not how you get there or who, if anyone, journeys with you. We arrive in death with nobodies burdens but our own.
You are not what they say you are. You are not what your past says of you. You are not a God damn thing, other than what you want to be. If you don’t like what you are, change it. Change your value. Contribute to what’s important and forget what isn’t.
It’s foolish to think we won’t disappoint ourselves, but those are building blocks. Those are essential failures that build a foundation to much larger successes. Value the ground work, and build on it. Everyone starts somewhere, and unless you are a spoon fed asshole...it’s probably from the bottom.
Even small steps are progress. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve cursed those around me for running, leaping, and jumping their way to success, as I was merely crawling. I also can’t tell you how many times I have wished them all to get arthritis of the knees. However, I, even though largely unsuccessful, continue to try. Perseverance is an under valued quality. Invest in it.
Stop being under inspired. How will the world ever know you exist, if you don’t? Wake up; hustle. Hustle hard. Don’t ever stop the grind. Get your ass to work. Work for a living, work for your passions, smash your goals. You are so much more than the job you choose. When the hustle is over, marvel in the accomplishments, and find a new goal.
Your value is largely dependent on your willingness to succeed. #wordporn#nothingspectacular#knowyourworth#changeit#perserverance
Let's just believe this for EVER aspect of our lives. HE CARES so much for you that He wants you to have the absolute best. He wants you to be HAPPY and ENJOY LIFE. "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9. HE will give you the best! Do you trust Him? (TAG 2 queens that deserve the best)
It’s crazy to think a few years ago I was so upset by things that didn’t work out, but how the universe works in mysterious ways. So thankful for everyone in my life, and all the wonderful opportunities coming my way 🤗♥️ #life
Day 16 Celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth
After highlighting John P. Parker, William Still, John Swett Rock, & Frederick Douglass...It's only natural to shine the light on this amazing woman (another reason I so loved the TV series "Underground") Harriet Tubman born Araminta Ross
January 29, 1822 – March 10, 1913
Known as “Moses” Harriet Tubman was enslaved, escaped, and helped thousands gain their freedom as a “conductor" of the Underground Railroad.
Tubman also served as a scout, spy, guerrilla soldier, and nurse for the Union Army during the Civil War,
treating black and white soldiers dying from infection and disease with herbal remedies. She is considered the first African American woman to serve in the military.
Harriet's exact birth date is unknown, but estimates place it between 1820 and 1822 in Dorchester County, Maryland. Born Araminta Ross, the daughter of Harriet Green and Benjamin Ross, Tubman had eight siblings. By age five, Tubman’s owners rented her out to neighbors as a domestic servant. Early signs of her resistance to slavery and its abuses came at age twelve when she intervened to keep her master from beating an enslaved man who tried to escape. She was hit in the head with a two-pound weight, leaving her with a lifetime of severe headaches and narcolepsy.
She married John Tubman, a free black man, in 1844. She took his name and dubbed herself Harriet. By 1851 he had married a free black woman.
Contrary to legend, Tubman did not create the Underground Railroad; it was established in the late eighteenth century by black and white abolitionists. Her success in helping run away slaves led slaveowners to post a $40,000 reward for her capture or death.
Tubman was never caught and never lost a “passenger.” She participated in other antislavery efforts, including supporting John Brown in his failed 1859 raid on the Harpers Ferry, Virginia arsenal.
Tubman raised funds to aid freedmen, joined Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony in their quest for women’s suffrage, cared for her aging parents, and worked with white writer Sarah Bradford on her autobiography as a potential source of income. #KnowYourHistory#KnowYourWorth
Loving yourself, is hard. Saying that I feel like a broken record. And whomever is reading this, you ring it true too. But I've learned that you can't love yourself, or begin to do so, if you don't *know* yourself. Do you truly, like really know what makes your heart sing? What makes you feel whole? I pondered on these for so so long, I already feel a lifetime has flown by me with how much I've let myself endure. But. It wasn't until recently, I woke up, and I didn't feel flat anymore. I felt the texture of my pillow, the sunlight warm my home, it hit me. I've found something so rare, so pure, even through the mistakes, I feel whole. It's with you 🖤

"Stop comparing yourself to others"... I see this daily. Hell, I've probably said it a few times myself. Truth is, you are going to do it anyway. No matter how much you say you're done with it. It's nature.
The question is, when you see someone with your dream job/body/life, what the f #ck are you going to do about it?... Sit and sulk?
Get up and go for your dream?
Your thoughts dictate your actions. If you tell yourself that you are hopeless and worthless, then expect to become more of that.
Try telling yourself that you are strong and capable and see what happens.🧡
My new motto this year is to never settle. Never settle for shit money, shit jobs, or shit friends. Know your worth, babe. Nothing but yourself can hold you back.
Yes I sell shampoo and you may judge me for it. But you know what? I’ve made stronger friendships, bigger paychecks, and I’ve watched myself grow into a completely new person within just a few short months. It’s NEVER too late to say f*ck it, I’m starting TODAY. Today I’m setting the foundation for all of my goals..and I can only go up from here.
Once you realize the opinions of others won’t matter in 5 years, you take on a whole new perspective and 100 more doors open. It’s up to you to decide where you go from here. ✨Happy Saturday everyone, make this next week amazing! And remember, never settle.✨ #healthyhairmovement#jamielynpresets#neversettle#bffs#knowyourworth#bossbabe

To all you beautiful people who spend your days taking care of others...you have to remember to take care of yourself first. If your tank is empty, how can you possibly help fill somebody else’s?.
I ran into this message today and it is super timely for me...I share it because there are quite a few folks in my circle who need to see this too. One of my intentions this year was exactly this, I absolutely needed the reminder today. Time to refocus and renew...MUAH ❤️
