  • Here’s another shot of the Barred Puffbird. Except this time I didn’t crop the photo like I did on my last share. He has beautiful layering of feathers along his crest and neck. Making him completely majestic in the bird kingdom. Shot was taken in Al Parque Natural San Francisco in Tortí, Panama 🇵🇦

  • Florida Favorites - the Sandhill Crane on our Day Two of Florida Adventures with @images365 you might be wondering what I’ve been up to lately! It’s super nice to share my Birding favorites with a good friend from another country! Every day has been an epic adventure that has lasted all day long - morning until night! We see things we have never seen before - many firsts even though these are my usual parks! What fun! Exhausted but having a great time with my true passion - Birding!!! Fabulous Florida ❤️ 🐧 Sandhill cranes are iconic members of the Florida ecosystem. They stand almost 4 feet tall and their bugling or rattling calls are frequently heard in natural areas or overhead. Sandhill cranes occur in pastures, open prairies and freshwater wetlands in peninsular Florida from the Everglades to the Okefenokee Swamp. 🐧Florida sandhill cranes are present in many urban areas including golf courses, airports and suburban subdivisions. This is due in part to the rapid development of their native habitat by humans. Cranes are attracted by open settings (mowed grass) and the availability of foods such as acorns, earthworms, mole crickets and turf grubs. 🐧 There are 15 crane species in the world, and sandhill cranes are some of the most numerous, numbering roughly 650,000 in North America 🐧But the population of the non-migratory Florida sandhill crane, is declining, with an estimated 5,000 to 6,000 nesting in freshwater ponds, pastures and wetland areas of the state.
