Think back to the crash of 2008, few people wanted to invest because they just saw the economy tanking. But it was one of the best times to invest and your investments given they that they were near the low point would have received HUGE GAINS. The economy goes through cycles. Recessions happen, but don’t let them deter you from investing

Liquid wealth or a liquid asset is either cash on hand or an asset that can readily be converted into cash. In other words, the asset can be sold with little impact to its value.
Liquid assets are usually seen as cash, as their value remains intact when sold. There are factors that must be present for an asset to be considered a liquid asset; there must be an established market, with a large number of interested buyers with the ability for ownership to be transferred easily.
Types of liquid assets include cash, and cash equivalents, stocks and marketable securities, US treasuries and bonds, Mutual Funds, money market and money market funds.
However, just because a stock can be a liquid asset, it can also become illiquid very quickly. Take penny stocks for example, if you buy 1,000 penny stocks trading at 50 cents a share with the perception the equity will increase in value and you can sell for a profit, but instead the stock dips very quickly. If there is not enough trading volume as is typical with penny stocks, the stock can go down dramatically. If the stock gets down to say under 10 cents, no one is going to want to buy it from you. Even though it is in an established market, there is no one to sell it to therefore it becomes illiquid and your stuck holding it praying that it goes back up.
The most common type of illiquid asset is real estate. This is because the process of selling the property at the price it is worth or the price you want for it may take many months. If the property is to be sold quickly, it is very likely the seller would have to accept a price below fair market value.
