  • Dreaming of this chili lime tofu bowl ✨ Whenever people tell me they don’t like tofu I recommend this recipe- It can be made in less than 15 minutes in a pan and stored in the fridge to use in bowls, sandwiches and wraps 🌿 .
To make 👇🏼:
Drain from the package a block of extra firm tofu. Press with a clean cloth to remove some of the excess water. Slice into 1/4 inch slices. Whisk together 1 tbsp of garlic chili sauce, the juice of 1 lime, 1/2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp of maple syrup + 1 tsp dijon mustard (optional). Marinate the tofu in the mixture, coating both sides for at least 5 minutes. Pan fry for 5 minutes on each side and enjoy!

When it comes to any dogmatic diet, there is a “wrong” way to do it and then there is a more “balanced” approach.

The ketogenic diet has been around for almost 100 years, dating back to 1921 when it was discovered that fasting and a high fat + low carb diet decreased frequency and severity of epilepsy and seizures.

Now, the therapeutic benefits of ketogenic diets are being further studied for autism, depression, migraines, type 2 diabetes, weight loss, PCOS, Alzheimer, Parkinson, and even cancer.

Ketosis is the bodies ability to produce energy from ketone bodies through the oxidation of fatty acids. This shifts the body from a predominantly glycolytic state to burning more fat (from stored triglycerides + diet) for energy.

Why is this beneficial? Lower carb intake has been shown to lower circulating insulin levels, prevent blood sugar spikes, reduce inflammation, and increase fat loss. In addition, higher fat intake increases levels of leptin, a hormone responsible for satiation (fullness).

While your brain is one of the greatest utilizers of ketones (and rather efficient), your liver cannot use ketones for energy.

While there are many great benefits to following a keto/lower carb diet, I do not believe it is right for everyone. I am a bigger fan of cyclic keto > long term “strict keto.” But then again, food needs no labels 🤷🏼‍♂️

The biggest issue people can run into on a ketogenic diet is the lack of fiber, phytochemicals, and micronutrients in the diet and the high amounts of animal protein consumption.

In fact, there are many people out there unknowingly eating more than the 10-20% recommended protein intake and therefore are not truly in a ketogenic state since their body is using the protein to create glucose via gluconeogenesis.

What you'll notice here is both these meals could be classified as keto. The point is that the right side is far superior in micronutrients, dietary fiber, phytochemicals, colorful carotenoids, and volume. In addition, the meal on the right is far less inflammatory and offers nearly the same amount of calories as the left.

  • hello everyone 🙌🏻 I wanted to talk a bit about this season in my life. I recently got married, moved a couple hours away from home, got a new job and started a new chapter. 
In this chapter, I wanted to take my health + fitness more serious then I have in the past. 
For those of you who know me I love to eat healthy, and am a clean freak! Haha
BUT 
Truth is, I tried to eat as heathy as I could, however I would always find myself not sticking to meal plans, too tired to push myself to workout, negative thoughts about myself and how I looked, and feeing like I could never be consistent with myself.

Recently, I had someone reach out to me, to talk about ways I could change my health and fitness life around. How to be a part of a community that pushes you, has meal flexible meal plans and workouts. I was so intrigued so I decided to give it a shot. I have recently started in my new journey becoming a health + virtual wellness coach, and I absolutely love it. It has already changed my life, and I’m able to enjoy foods I love in controlled portions, have amazing workouts that are only 20 MINUTES a day, that make me sweat 💦 and I have a HUMUNGOUS (did I spell that right?) community of women who are helping me every step of the way. I have already lost 5 lbs and it’s been 2 weeks and 3 days. 
All I can say is I’m blown away that God can put people into your life just when you need it, this journey requires work, but I’m willing to put it in if I can see results mentally and physically for myself, and others.

  • hello everyone 🙌🏻 I wanted to talk a bit about this season in my life. I recently got married, moved a couple hours away from home, got a new job and started a new chapter.
    In this chapter, I wanted to take my health + fitness more serious then I have in the past.
    For those of you who know me I love to eat healthy, and am a clean freak! Haha
    BUT
    Truth is, I tried to eat as heathy as I could, however I would always find myself not sticking to meal plans, too tired to push myself to workout, negative thoughts about myself and how I looked, and feeing like I could never be consistent with myself.

    Recently, I had someone reach out to me, to talk about ways I could change my health and fitness life around. How to be a part of a community that pushes you, has meal flexible meal plans and workouts. I was so intrigued so I decided to give it a shot. I have recently started in my new journey becoming a health + virtual wellness coach, and I absolutely love it. It has already changed my life, and I’m able to enjoy foods I love in controlled portions, have amazing workouts that are only 20 MINUTES a day, that make me sweat 💦 and I have a HUMUNGOUS (did I spell that right?) community of women who are helping me every step of the way. I have already lost 5 lbs and it’s been 2 weeks and 3 days.
    All I can say is I’m blown away that God can put people into your life just when you need it, this journey requires work, but I’m willing to put it in if I can see results mentally and physically for myself, and others.

I encourage that each person is capable of sharing who they are and understanding human suffering from a personal lens first before thinking any of us can do anything to support and hear those around us without first understanding our own journey through life and the context of a personal lens first•

I never feel safe and heard from those who practice pity and sympathy models of conversation and pretend like they are “perfect humans” with no suffering.•

Empathy and compassion is best practiced by first listening to your own cry and needs as an individual •
•
I share my story for healing reasons.  For truth seeking.  For understanding.  For honor.  For freedom.  For connections with real people.  For the simple fact that this is who I am and I am not ashamed to share my story.•

My hope is that more people share their own and honor their historical perspectives from an individual lens so we work better together and improve health outcomes for all of us•
•
I want to dismantle every single lie spoken against my sister.  Every lie spoken against me.•
•
I want to shed light on my own home state and country on the social injustice of how childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, self inflicted violence, and intimate partner violence is a major public health crisis right here at home and we have a lot of work to do to help heal the old wounds, the new wounds, the historical wounds and create safer homes here for women and children in our very own communities•
