  • Soooo....I’ve been a little apprehensive to share this, but...
.
.
A couple of things:
.
1)I’d normally NEVER ever, ever wear an outfit like this- but it was Vegas, late at night, and I finally felt confident enough in my 31 years to do so. Im normally in courtroom attire (as Erin, the attorney) or yoga pants (literally living my best life 😂)- so this was huge for me! It was so uncomfortable-so out of my comfort zone!
.
2) This outfit (or type of outfit) will likely never happen again, but I’m glad it made an appearance because I have always wished I could be so confident enough to wear something like this. It’s unreal. I did it and I rocked it In a small Las Vegas lounge (for a small couple of hours)- and that’s all I could’ve asked for. .
.
3) there is a FULL bodysuit underneath- so, no, I’m not being inappropriate. I would never. .
.
4) I feel really beautiful and sexy and proud and never in my wildest dreams did I’d think I’d be able to pull of something like this-especially since for years I felt awful and absolutely disgusted about myself, but I did (and got a lot of compliments for it except that one women who kept trying to shame me and get me off the dance floor on multiple occasions-girl, bye). I have never ever in my life had a dress like this and for the first time in my life I thought I’d have fun and just go for it one time. Just for fun! That night was hugely out of my comfort zone (and I will likely never wear anything like it again), but I’m proud of myself for going WAY outside my comfort zone and wearing something that Dave and I loved- that made me feel confident and happy. sometimes it’s the little things- like wearing a dress you’d normally NEVER wear In a million years and owning it. AND IN THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I FELT LIKED I OWNNNNNNEEEEDDDD IT! .

  • For 22 years I struggled with my health. Digestion issues, bloating, hives, chronic diarrhea, depression, brain fog, memory loss, etc... Doctor after doctor told me there was nothing wrong with me, they prescribed drugs to treat the symptoms, they sent me to therapy because “it was all in my head”, but no one identified the root cause to my suffering. .
Thankfully in 2018 I was introduced to a functional medicine doctor and holistic practitioner that took me seriously. They listened, asked questions, spent time with me, ran tests and FINALLY I had answers. I’ve spent the past year working closing with them to heal all the damage that was caused all those years. It hasn’t been easy, but I am so thankful I was introduced to a new way of medicine and am finally healing. The best part… I no longer look like the pictures above. 💃🏼🙌🏻 I can eat without looking like I’m 6 months pregnant immediately afterwards! This has done so much for my self esteem and how I feel about my body. 😍
.
Last week I shared on #IGTV my experience with functional medicine and how it has changed my life and my kids. The question I got back from many of you is… “how do I find a doctor like that???” I just added a post to the blog yesterday explaining just that. Link to the post “How to Find a Doctor to Diagnose and Treat Your Mystery or Chronic Illness” in my Instagram bio or -> https://jenniferpitts.com/how-to-find-a-doctor-to-diagnose-and-treat-your-mystery-or-chronic-illness/ Hope this helps you get one step closer to fully healing. .

  • I learned about this during my studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a lot of countries have banned ingredients that the US still declares safe! Especially red food dye. It’s a known carcinogen in other countries, even the World Health Organization declares it so, yet it’s still on our shelves here in the USA... mostly in food marketed towards children. // follow @thefoodbabe for more great info like this to protect yourself and loved ones! She’s amazing

  • How to Maintain a Healthy Gut Barrier
-
A breach in the gut barrier (intestinal lining) is one of the most potent immune challenges we face.
-
So testing and correcting for leaky gut is the first step in almost any immune protocol or treatment.
-
You can test for leaky gut by undergoing an Intestinal Permeability test or by measuring zonulin.
-
The intestinal permeability test directly measures the ability of two non-metabolized sugar molecules to pass through the intestinal lining. You basically drink a premeasured amount of lactulose and mannitol and measure the two sugars, recovered in urine samples collected over the next 6 hours.
-
Another option is to measure fecal zonulin, which is better than serum or blood levels of zonulin, but not as accurate as the Intestinal Permeability test.
-
If you find out that you have leaky gut, then here's what I'd suggest:
-
1. Remove foods that are known to damage the intestinal lining such as gluten, soy, dairy and corn. I would even suggest eliminating nightshades and legumes.
-
2. Increase foods that support your immune system such as bone broth, organ meats, fermented foods and prebiotics.
-
3. Watch out for high intensity training, manage life stresses and create an environment for optimal sleep.
-
4. Use nutrients to support Intestinal lining healing such as L-glutamine (4 g/day), IgG (2 g/day), Probiotics (100 billion/day), Turmeric extract (850 mg/day) and Vitamin D3+K2 (10,000 IU/day).

  • When your #thyroid and #adrenals are off #brainfog and #fatigue can hit you any time of the day without any warning. Many people with #hypothyroidism and #hashimotos have protein deficiency and don't even know it. The truth is that NOT getting enough good quality protein can actually sabotage your #thyroidhealing and recovery from hypothyroid and #autoimmune symptoms and put you in the state when you spend most part of your day in a brain fog. An adequate amount of protein is essential for supporting proper liver function and detoxification process in when you have #underactivethyroid because people with impaired thyroid function are:⠀
1. Slow detoxifiers and proper detoxification is impossible without enough protein in your #thyroididet⠀
2. Don't properly digest protein due to low stomach acid production in hypothyroidism⠀
3. Cannot properly absorb protein due to #leakygut and other #gut and #digestion problems.⠀
4. Are "hard gainers" who have difficulties to gain and maintain muscle mass and are prone to muscle wasting. 5. Always feel fatigued, exhausted and out of energy.
If you want to support a proper liver and thyroid function, you will need at least between 70 to 100 grams of high quality protein per day.⠀⠀
Using thyroid supportive protein sources can help with healing process and provide necessary nutrients and building blocks for recovery from hypothyroidism (including when you don't have the thyroid anymore). ⠀⠀
I would like to let you know that a reputable health company is giving away a FREE container of premium high quality protein and a FREE bottle of live potent probiotic (50 billion good bacteria per serving). Sounds too good to be true? But it's really happening. They just want people to try this protein out and experience benefits it provides for their health. It’s truly free, no strings attached, worldwide shipping. You can get it through https://outsmartdisease.com/free or just use the link in my Instagram profile description at @outsmartdisease <<<=== clickable link

  • I’ve gotten asked this question many times, and as a pharmacist I feel its important to give the history of thyroid treatment to better understand prescribing practice.
__
📍Natural thyroid preparations (desiccated thyroid), which contain both (T4) and (T3), were the first pharmacologic treatments available
__
📍In the 1970s it was discovered that our thyroid gland contain deiodinase which converts T4 hormone to ACTIVE T3
__
📍After this discovery, levothyroxine which contains ONLY synthetic T4 became the mainstay of therapy, with the understanding that our body converts T4 to T3
__
📍About 10-15% of patients treated with Levothyroxine continue to have symptoms of hypothyroidism, neurocognitive impairment (brain fog, fatigue, depression), despite normal TSH
__
📍This has brought into question the inability of Levothyroxine to universally normalize serum T3 levels
__
📍Some patients who continue to have symptoms of hypothyroidism when taking Levothyroxine report improvement in these symptoms when switched to desiccated thyroid extract
__
📍In a double-blinded study of 70 participants, those taking Armour Thyroid lost nearly three pounds more than those taking Synthroid and preferred Armour Thyroid based on improvements in symptoms and mental wellbeing
__
📍Some people may have a genetic mutation that does not allow them to convert T4 into T3 - and this is potentially the reason for the lack of symptom improvement
__
📍A trial of combination natural desiccated thyroid therapy is recommended for patients who do not experience symptom relief on Levothyroxine
__
❓❓What do you take and what has been your experience? Curious how many people have experienced a change if they were switched❓❓

  • Is your workout a part of your routine? Part of your daily habit? My workout is just as much of a habit as brushing my teeth or putting on shoes. But it wasn’t ALWAYS that way. I fought the change because as easy as it was to workout for 30 minutes, it was just as easy NOT TO! Just because I’m a coach doesn’t mean that it was always easy or that I always want to workout .
How did I make it routine?
1️⃣ I started small. 20-30 min a day
2️⃣ I set it as an appt on my calendar. I wouldn’t cancel on my boss so I also set the same precedent for ME!
3️⃣ Accountability is KEY! My group was looking to me to check in and hold them accountable, just as they were to hold me to the same standards!
4️⃣ Find something you don’t hate! If you like to dance, find a workout like that! MMA, kickboxing, lifting.... find your jam !
5️⃣ Find a non-food way to reward yourself! Mine is a pedicure or massage if I keep my commitment to myself!
What kinds of things did you use to hold yourself accountable and on track when you started?

  • Dear Self,
Don’t lose sleep over those who prefer you fail or quickly judge you. Don't let the haters dim your inner light.

It’s not worth the stress, frustration, heartache or headache. Control only what you can. Everything else, LET GO.

Love,
Me 💋

  • I'm not Perfect!
.
My workouts and nutrition are not always perfect! I'm human!
There are bad days, struggles, challenges and weaknesses, just like everyone else! But what I have learned is that when we push past our WEAKNESSES, overcome our STRUGGLES, take on the CHALLENGES, we find the strength to KEEP GOING, and NOT GIVE UP, ESPECIALLY when it's HARD! .
Its not always easy, but it’s doable. One day one step at time. .
Today marks the last day of my current program but that doesn’t mean the journey is over, so on to the next program I go. .
If you are on the struggle bus more days then you would like to be then lets link arms and help each other out. Together we can do this! .

When you live with a poorly managed #thyroiddisease such as #hypothyroidism and #autoimmune #hashimotos you are ready to #nap at any given moment and don’t want to be disturbed. You wake up #tired even after having between 8 to 10 hours of #sleep at night and feel like you can't get through your day without #napping You may not have the energy to exercise or you just fall asleep during the day and are barely able to do anything. Profound #fatigue is one of the most debilitating #hypothyroid symptoms that can affect every aspect of your life, career, parenting and relationships. Unfortunately, this is also one of the last symptoms to improve even after getting #thyroid treatment because it takes time for medication to start to work, affect your brain chemistry and energy production on the cellular level. So what can you do? Here’re some tips: 1. Make sure you are getting an optimal thyroid treatment and your medication is optimized. 2. Check out your protein intake. Many people with Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s have protein deficiency because they cannot properly digest and absorb protein. As a result they have low energy and fatigue. Adding some protein with improved absorption factor can help. 3. Impaired gut #microbiome and #gut flora affect so many factors that can lead to feeling #sickandtired all the time and low immunity. What’s the solution? Currently a reputable health company is giving away FREE live potent probiotic and high quality premium protein powder that provides 10-fold absorption. You can get it through my website together with free access to online Hypothyroidism Seminar: The Right And Wrong Ways To Heal at https://outsmartdisease.com/free r just use the link in my profile bio @outsmartdisease <<== clickable link

  • Read that again.

@prince_ea is talking about internal healing- the kind of the soul and heart. But this is true for physical healing als
Ive said before that healing physically requires personal growth- healing emotionally and spiritually- it requires hard choices- including the choice to have daily time alone with your higher power- focusing on self care- the kind that cannot be done in groups. It requires introspection, prayer and meditation. It requires involving your higher power and asking for a force outside of yourself to get involved on your behalf.
It also requires a lot of work from you- you have to do it again and again. You have to do your part.
The more complex your case, the more internal work you are going to have to put in so that you can heal physically.

In my own journey, my #CAEBV and #hashimotos would not go into remission until i did the spiritual and emotional work- and my body followed. All toxins make us sick- physical, environmental, emotional, energetic.

  • When @cltglutenfree posts a picture of a burger piled high with FRIED pickles and FRIED onions from @burtonsgrillofcharlotte, you don’t walk.. you run! 💃
.
The burger: The Maxx Burger
.
The juicy details: The charbroiled certified angus beef patty is topped with american cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, house made pickles, Burton’s special sauce and crispy onion strings on a toasted Udi’s bun.
.
If regular french fries aren’t your thing, you can substitute them for rosemary Parmesan fries or sweet potato fries.
.
If you haven’t been, check out their locations to see if there is one near you. It’s a Celiac’s dream and this restaurant should be the golden standard for how all restaurants handle food allergies. ⭐️
.
See you again soon, @burtonsgrillofcharlotte!

  • Getting ready for a bridal shower today, so I actually looked in a mirror and tried working on my appearance for more than 2 minutes. 🤣 Hair and make up requires more willpower than exercise for me! Aaand this is about as much hair & makeup as I know how to do lol. Anyways, going to get my #sweat12wc 💪🏼workout in before dinner tonight, and bringing some delicious ginger tea with coconut milk & stevia ☕️ to the party so I have my special treat & wont feel deprived when I avoid food & drinks I know won’t make me feel good later. Fail to plan and plan you to fail!

  • Mission: clear skin for wedding. I’ve read a lot of great reviews about Averr Aglow skin care. It’s completely natural, organic, vegan, and doesn’t test on animals. All of their products are infused with antioxidants, nutrients and detoxifying properties. Fingers crossed 🤞
