  • The Wanaka tree, taken at midnight and lit up by the snow moon. If you look close enough, you can even see some stars in the sky ✨ 💫
//
This tree is so famous, and so easily accessible, that literally crowds of photographers line up around it to take its picture every day. It has its own, dedicated landmark on google maps. It even has its own hashtag: #thatwanakatree. Typically I avoid photographing things like this. I decided that if we did go to see this tree that I’d leave the camera behind because honestly, it’s not that fun fighting heaps of people for the right angle and taking the same shot of the same thing that thousands of others have taken. But the other night we were on our way home from a sunset hike and saw the full moon rise over the town of Wanaka. It was beautiful and I thought that maybe this would be a good time to finally check out the Wanaka tree. In a last minute decision, alone and in the darkness, we walked out to the tree. And damn is that a pretty photogenic tree! There were two other people there, not fifty, so we stayed for a bit and took out the camera to capture it. I picked a spot far from the other two people, we sat down on the sand, listened to the sound of the water, and set up our shot in the peacefulness of the night. It was perfect.

  • Mountains trying to hide from my camera. After some effort I managed to blow the clouds away though and snapped this shot just before the peak ran away

  • The traditions of clam digging and oyster harvesting run deeply through the historical veins of the Olympic Peninsula. As one of the most bountiful places in the country when it comes to sea-fare,a visit compels us to unearthing our boots, shovels, and spades from the back of the garage. Discover the article with the link in our bio. 📸: @explorehoodcanal

  • With negative temperatures overnight has come the first snow of the season, leaving the peaks snowcapped here in the south. I am beyond excited for winter to arrive! Check my story for a few more snaps from today.

  • Just watched the latest episode of The Grand Tour and I totally agree with Clarkson, May and Hammond. Scotland, especially the Highlands is one of the most beautiful place on earth to drive on.

  • You know, sometimes I have the crappiest of luck (kinda funny but also not) but regardless... you still have to laugh and make the most of situations - am I right? I mean, being stranded in Edmonton for an extra day just means I get extra time to spend with some #1 homies. And v thankful for friends like @naomi4nn (true MVP) what an adventure filled week ya’ll. also photo by Nayhomes 🤘🏼
