  • Every now and again you taste a wine that redefines your understanding of just how good the humble vitis vinifera can be. This 2008 Bienvenues -Bâtard-Montrachet from @pierreyvescolinmorey did exactly that for me 😍🇫🇷⁣ ⁣ Pierre-Yves started working at his father’s winery (Domaine Marc Colin) in 1994, where he was the winemaker until the 2005 vintage. While at his father’s domaine, he started a negociant operation in 2001 with his wife, Caroline Morey, the daughter of another prominent Burgundian, Jean-Marc Morey 👑 ⁣ ⁣ This became the foundation for his proprietary domaine Pierre Yves Colin-Morey (her named was affixed at the end) in 2006. In the past decade, the Domaine has gone from rising star to full-fledged sensation in Burgundy and Pierre’s wines have achieved "must-buy" status among sommeliers, collectors, and Burgundy drinkers alike 🖼 ⁣ ⁣ No more than a stone's throw away from Le Montrachet itself, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet hails from the same family of incomparable white Burgundies. Surrounded on two sides by the vineyard of Bâtard-Montrachet, it is in fact the second smallest Grand Cru in Burgundy with an area of 3.68 hectares. In the Middle-Ages, this vineyard was given by lords to their servents who named them "Welcome". The soil is similar to that of Le Montrachet but ever so slightly heavier 🏞⁣ ⁣ SWIPE LEFT ⬅️⬅️ for a map of the vineyard 🗺 ⁣ ⁣ This wine is just breathtaking. It is expressive and possesses a solidly layered nose which displays a pretty combination of honeysuckle, white peach, pear and subtle spice hints.   • 엊그제 회와 함께 소소한 테이스팅. 블라인드로 두 가지만 해봤다. Louis Jadot Pouilly-Fuisse 2016. Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet 2016. 풀향에 약간의 오일리함, 깔끔한 산도와 사과, 라임, 초록 풀에 약간 거칠기도 하면서 미세하게 쌔한 느낌이 났던 건 뿌이휘세였다. 흰 꽃에 고소한 향, 구운 아몬드, 약간의 두께감과 오일리함, 끝에 꿀 느낌이 났던 건 샤샤뉴몽라쉐. 첫 잔에서는 헷갈렸다가 두 번째 잔에서는 확실히 지난번 샤샤뉴몽라쉐와 공통되는 느낌을 느꼈다. 마시다 잠들어서 의도치 않게 몇 시간을 냉장고에 넣었다가 다시 마셨는데, 뿌이휘세는 하루가 지나니 조금 더 부드러워지고 마시기 좋아졌다. 차가울 때보다 온도가 올라가니 좀 더 둥글게 바뀌면서 산미의 날카로움이 무뎌져서 오히려 좋았다. 여행을 앞두고 일부러 예민하게 테이스팅을 해보려고 노력하고 있다. 도멘 별로 다양한 마을과 밭의 와인을 비교 테이스팅 해볼 수 있는 기회인데 뭔가 그냥 흥청망청 마시고 취하기만 하면 아쉬울 것 같다. 이제 좀 몇몇 마을 느낌만 알 것 같은데 밭이나 도멘은 도대체 어떻게 구분하는 걸까. 아직 내공을 한참 쌓아야 할 것 같다. #LouisJadot #PouillyFuisse #ChassagneMontrachet

  • Inspired by the agnolotti and squab I had in Europe - a glorious afternoon at home spent cooking, sharing food and many stories with friends in a way only blind tastings can bring about. The 07 grivot - incredibly floral, bright, crystalline and pure. Redolent of fresh strawberry, cherry and rose. Very volnaysien in the first 1.5 hours of its life which stumped my friends. Then true to form it took on masses of dark, heady spice, dried florals, roasted strawberries perfume and weight that spoke clearly of Vosne and Grivot. Very ‘07 in its generosity and much fresher than the last bottle I tried. 11 PYCM - less structure/shape than other wines I’ve had of his, but poised, balanced and more transparent I think. Very generous lemon oil, very bright and expressive. Slightly salted. Very pure, textural, gentle hazelnut oil that really drives into the finish. Lovely chalky, mid palate weight. Not as intense mid palate grip or acidity I usually associate with PYCM, but there is the sensation of extremely fine tannin on the sides of the tongue. Delicious in its own way. 89 Bouchard CC was tired but masses of botrytis weight, texture and orange peel/ dried apricot still clear as day. Some lingering phenolic/lees weight and texture present, but a bit hollow and lifeless. Also, Yunnan truffles! #blindtasting

  • 아주 꼴보기 싫은 놈 덕분에 내 입이 호강한 날- 남의 슬픔을 놀려 먹은 댓가로 나 또한 언젠가 너처럼 슬퍼지겠지? 그 땐 니가 나 좀 위로해줘야해 🤯 . 향으로 마신다는 부르고뉴 화이트 샤샤뉴 몽라쉐, 화이트가 이렇게나 우아하고 고급지다니 뭔가 닮고 싶은 와인이었다. 그리고 미국 까쇼 다우, 어렸을 때 저렴한 까쇼로 와인 입문해서 요즘엔 까쇼는 내 입맛에 안 맞다 생각하고 안 마신지 꽤 됐는데, 내가 생각해오던 까쇼의 이미지를 이 와인이 확 뒤집어 주었다. 밸런스가 너무 좋았고, 무엇보다 까쇼가 뭐 이리 향긋해? 또 보자, 얘들아! #와인 #샤샤뉴몽라쉐 #다우 #까베르네소비뇽 #강남 #고깃집열 #나폴리회관 #wine #chassagnemontrachet #daou
