@taraconklinauthor’ THE LAST ROMANTICS is about love. “Real love, true love. Imperfect, wretched, weak love. No fairy tales, no poetry. It is about the negotiations we undertake with ourselves in the name of love.” .
Fun fact: I spent time with @taraconklinauthor at my first author event and she is the most loveliest, kindest human. Add #TheLastRomantics to your TBR list!

Photo by @ridwan_ontu | The Ekushey Book Fair (অমর একুশে গ্রন্থ মেলা) is the national book fair of Bangladesh. It is arranged each year by Bangla Academy and takes place for the whole month of February in Dhaka. This book fair is organized by government in February every year.
Muktodhara Publishing house started a little sale in front of #BanglaAcademy in the 21 February 1972. Chittaranjan Saha of Muktodhara took the initiative. Later, other book publishers joined unofficially. Gradually it became official and the most popular book fair of Bangladesh.
QOTD: What are you reading right now?⠀
We have a book club at work that focuses on technical and nontechnical books on development. This month we’re reading “Algorithms to Live By” which is an interesting dive into common algorithms and their relationship to cognitive science (ie. How humans make the same decisions)⠀
As someone who partially slept through her algorithms class in college, this is a nice (re)education in both the history and usefulness of some of these problem solving techniques⠀

hi there 👋🏼
had to return this to the library today 😢
this just means i have to get my own copy, right???? (should i get the black cover or the white cover 👀)
i gave the first book, THE CRUEL PRINCE, 3 stars, because i thought most of it was enjoyable but overall just okay.
now...... THE WICKED KING???? WOW. holly black brought her A-GAME. she’s really not messing around, tearing our hearts out left and right!!!!! and i’m actually okay with it!!!!!!! because it’s brilliant (the parallels 😩🙌🏼)
i wasn’t aboard THE CRUEL PRINCE hype train, but i guess i unexpectedly found myself on board (and i’m not complaining — a train that has jude and cardan on it is one i also want to be on!!!!!) (side note: is the train metaphor too much lmao)
— #QOTD : have you read TCP or TWK? what’d you think? who are your fave characters? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
i love love love jude!! she is literally the most badass female character ever written, okay!!!!!! she’s completely METAL and hardcore and I LOVE IT
Book Club is The Best!
Sharing our love for reading is a special thing, but being surrounded by young people who value kindness above all else is truly heart-filling.
This is the most amazing Christmas card I’ve ever received. So looking forward to the Year 5&6 Book Club reunion next week! Such generous, thoughtful and enthusiastic people!
PS there are still a few spaces in our Thursday Yr5&6 Book Club, and our Friday Yr 7&8 Book Club. New members are warmly welcomed! Links to the info in our bio.
Traded in some books for these two classics. Would you believe I have never read either? I’m half way through The Little Prince and loving it. Tell me if you liked either of these please 🙋🏼♀️ - Lindsay 💕 #blakeandbeckner
22/2: Be Humble Day
Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.”
― Abraham Lincoln
According to Aristotle, the ultimate aim of human activity and life is the development of character. You need to be courageous, responsible, honest and reliable. Your reputation affects how people deal with you. Thus, it is beneficial to develop the kind of character and personality that earns the respect and affection of the people relevant to your field.
David Brooks blends psychology in ‘Road to Character’ and encourages readers to explore how through internal struggles, we have a sense of our own limitations. Despite the odds, we emerge as people with stronger inner characters.
There’s a great deal we can learn from the challenges and struggles we face. It tests our resilience and endurance. They say ‘great people are usually judged by their character’. People can’t really tell how much we have gone through from our appearance alone. Prove them wrong. Show that you’ve learned a lot from your past experiences through the way you portray yourself.

Have you joined our bookclub yet? If not...what are you waiting for? We have our first online meeting next week and I have it on good authority that several people joining us haven't finished the book yet.
Guess what? That's TOTALLY OK!!! We are going to meet online, chat about the book a bit and then really whatever else comes up.
Did you know that Reese Witherspoon has a book club pick each month? It’s true! February’s pick is The Proposal, a Rom Com with diversity and accidental love. You can get a copy of The Proposal and other recent picks in store today!
"...And I started degenerating.
The sea has a clone of my exact breadth locked inside its leagues.
And it was metastasizing.
It needed a drug.
But my head hid inside itself to the dragon, the bird and the stags in Yggdrasil
to the extent that when I screamed,
I was only screaming from below
in a graveyard of dead whose only beloved were also dead to not be there to watch them
cranky from knowing my voice in the catacombs..." Excerpt from "At Some Point I Went Psychotic"
