Lanzarote, Spain - I was recently given the opportunity to direct my first ever commercial photo shoot. It was for the launch of the new Lexus UX in Europe. It wasn't your usual shoot though, as I directed a team on location in Lanzarote, from my home in London!
I chose Lanzarote because of its incredible volcanic landscape, architecture, remote towns and light.
The inspiration came from my street view images. To achieve something similar we rigged up a camera to one of the ‘self-charging Hybrid’ UX cars and then with the help of a 360 live feed camera and an amazing crew on the ground, I was able to remotely capture images with another UX around the island.
Here's one of the images. This was taken in a very beautiful seaside town called Caleta de Caballo. On this day, the weather was really challenging, so we often only had a few minutes to capture a shot with good light.
Huge thank you to my wonderful crew @roadstory_@sambenard@benbphp x
I’ve been really inspired by Jacqui Kenny’s work and decided to give this technique a shot for myself. Using Google street view, I explored around towns in South Africa resulting in these three posts.
